the answers to
Thanksgiving is coming up soon here in the States, and with it comes all the relatives, and then the rest of the holidays. So, what the hey, I thought I'd tie that in with this quiz.
First, a side note: Thanks for the responses about the "expansion" set I co-authored. I'll try to post it soon -- but first, Bill has to give me a copy of it! He's got the only consolidated list.
I'm still working on it.
1. There is no Turkey card among the barnyard animals. How many Barnyard Animals are there?
Six that I know of.
2. With the holidays come the relatives. Name three "relatives" featured on Guardian cards. (No, "Lying Scum", and I don't care if your cousin Bernie owes you money.)
Earth Mother, Giant Aunts and Snow Daughters.
Take a half-point for Helm of the Brotherhood.
There are no Fathers, Sons or Uncles, but that could have something to
do with the artwork. (Like those Snow Daughters, but you gotta love
Mama.)
3. After a while, all those relatives start to get on your nerves and you want to . . .
Forget it, who am I kidding. Actually, I have one question for the "destruction" quiz that I never wrote:
What creature can destroy itself if both players played it? Arnath, Lord of the Skies is a flying creature that destroys flying creatures.
4. And with all that food come come the bugs. (I'll take away segue I can get!)
When I first proposed the "Atomic Swatter" and "No Pest Strip" that I posted recently, the first response I got was "it's kind of limited -- there aren't that many Bugs in the game."
Well, if you agree with that statement, answer these:
a) Are there more Bugs or Barnyard Animals cards?
I've found more Bugs: 7 Bugs and 6 Barnyard Animals.
b) Are there more Bug command cards or B.A. command cards?
There are two Barnyard Animals that are command cards: Cow, and Floyd, the Flying Pig. No bugs are command cards.
c) What non-Bug command cards affect "Bugs" specifically, and what non-Barnyard-Aminal command cards affect "Barnyard Animals" specifically?
There are NO cards that target Bugs specifically.
Suddenly, it doesn't seem like a waste to have Bug items. Now does it?
Either that, or we need some more Barnyard Animals.
What I mean by that last one is: don't tell me about AOE command cards
or cards that affect Beer-bribeable, etc.
There are at least four that affect Barnyard Animals: Farmer Brown and
the three Mayors.
5. Another buggy question: While you're watching the Lions game or
maybe college football, and knocking back a six-pack, think about this:
In a legal Bug-only shield, what's the highest Vitality you can get
Phil, the Bar Fly up to? Assmue your opponent has a bunch of
non-bribeable creatures.
Phil gets +1 for each Beer icon in play. Phil isn't in play,
so he doesn't get +1 for his own Beer icon. If you only have Bugs, then
the highest you can get Phil is Vitality 7. He starts as a 3 and gets +1
for each of the four Phils you already played.
No other bug is bribeable by Beer.
6. Someone has to cook dinner! Which two creatures are depicted wearing chef hats?
Gumbo Jake and Festus.
7. Time to break the wishbone. How many creatures have either "wish" or "bone" in their name?
Four Bones and no Wishes: Bone Fright, Bone Shambler, Drizzle Bone the Hack, and Whalebone Rick.
8. Let's get into the Holiday Spirit. Without checking with your Spirit
Guide, call you tell which of the following are "Spirits"?
Arwyddyn
(Actually, I have three and I'll trade for a load
of cash and some McHooter's Distractions.) 8-)
Uras, Overlord of the Mountains
9. A few quick dinner questions. What do you call:
a) the guy who continually refills your glass
The Amazing Cider-Man
b) someone who sits on a chair right after a drink has been spilled on it
Soggybottom Gertz
c) what you might say when you go to your girlfriend's house for a promised
feast, only to find out her family is vegetarian.
Curse of the Betrayed
d) the way we decide who gets the drumstick at my house.
War
10. And finally, an easy one: what card will be on display, sort of, in
the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade, right here in New York City?
(Actually, there are two good answers for this one!)
Old (St.) Nick will be riding in on Santa's (Beer) Sled.
(Well, how do you think he stays so jolly!)
Answers soon. Hopefully, sooner than the last time.
Not bad. Less than a week.
Debates sooner.
What? Did I miss a Barnyard Animal somewhere??
Fun always.
And I'm gonna beat my nephews pants off on Thanksgiving!

Coming soon: Battle Creek, the Northeastern Expansion.
(Most of the cards are inspired by the Northeastern U.S., except, unfortunately, for Battle Creek. It was a better name than anything that fit the theme. Besides, in the Mid Realms, location is relative anyway. You're in the Woods one day and you come back to find Rivers and Lakes.)
